Movies: Man of Steel , Iron Man 3 , Anchorman: The Legend Continues

We’re getting close to the end of 2012, so let’s see what we have to look forward to next year. It’s never too early to get hyped up for what Hollywood has in store for us next year. You'll be getting 2 list today, from Jason Krol and myself. Here are the movies you’ll need to see next year if you don’t want to feel like a toothless hillbilly during office conversations.

James O'Brien Jason Krol
10. Monsters University

Monsters University

This studio has not disappointed yet and I was a big fan of Monsters, Inc. I’m looking forward to revisiting Monstropolis with a younger Mike and Sulley. Just for the record, John Lasseter and the Pixar group will make my list every year.

10. Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim

Yeah, giant robots, monsters, Peter Jackson. Done.

9. The Wolverine

The Wolverine

I was not a fan of the Wolverine origins movie. I thought it was only serviceable at best since I had such high expectations for it. At least we got Deadpool and Gambit finally!!! That said, my expectations are right back up there for this one. I’ll always be game for the guff adamantium-clawed mutant

9. World War Z

World War Z

Yes, the trailer was very... odd. And a lot of people were hating on it. Personally, I don't know why they didn't just give this movie a different title as it has literally nothing to do with the book - but its zombies, so I'm in!

8. Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek Into Darkness

J.J. Abrams, J.J. Abrams, J.J. Abrams … I’m always looking forward to his films. That along with really liking the first Star Trek has me all excited for futuristic camera lense flares. I can just imagine how the Trekkies feel!!!

8. Evil Dead

Evil Dead

Even though this remake has some fans upset (maybe most notably because of a female lead?) - personally I'm excited. I loved the original, and I love Bruce Campbell, and the movie has his blessing so its good enough for me!

7. Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim

Giant robots battle giant monsters!!! Need I say more?

7. Man of Steel

Man of Steel

Superman. C'mon.

6. G.I. Joe: Retaliation

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Let’s hope and pray the reason this got pushed back was to get this thing right. They get a chance to make up for the pile of crap they put on the screen a couple years ago. Rumor has it they reshot to undo killing off Channing Tatum’s part, Duke. I don’t care if he’s Magic Mike as long as they give me a good G.I. Joe movie. Even though this movie has made my list, I have very little faith in it.

6. A Good Day to Die Hard

A Good Day to Die Hard

It's Die Hard... need I say more?

5. Thor: The Dark Worlds

Thor: The Dark Worlds

I’m all in for Marvel’s Avengers films series. I just wish Disney owned the movie rights for more of Marvel’s characters. How great would it be to see Spider-Man, X-Men and The Fantastic Four along with The Avengers? GEEK PORN!!!

5. Star Trek Into Darkness

Star Trek Into Darkness

Even though I had one of the worst experiences in the movie theater ever watching the first movie (thats a story for another post), that didn't taint how much I loved it. So naturally I'm quite excited for the sequel.

4. Oz: The Great and Powerful

Oz: The Great and Powerful

I’m one of the those people who think it’s time to retell the Wizard of Oz story because of all the advancement in the motion picture industry. As I’ve said before, hopefully Oz does well because that moves us one step closer to getting Dorothy and the gang back on the silver screen. Previews have me pumped so let’s hope that James Franco can do what we know Robert Downey Jr. would have done.

4. Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3

Comic books!!!

3. Anchorman: The Legend Continues

Anchorman: The Legend Continues

I’ll see anything that has Brick Tamland in it!!! “I love lamp!!!” I can’t wait to see what the Channel 4 News Team has in store for us 9 years later. Anchorman is one of my favorite comedies of all time. I remember being in the theatre and almost peeing myself when Ron is crying about Baxter in the phone booth. Doesn’t get any better than that.

3. Ender's Game

Ender's Game

The book series is simply epic and really a timeless classic for ANY age. Heres hoping with bated breath that they can actually pull this off!

2. Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3

First, see #5!!! This is the character that started it all back in 2008 that helped springboard us to 2012’s Avengers. And this movie will be the follow-up to the all-star team-up. We’ll be hoping the new director Shane Black gives us a better movie than Iron Man 2.

2. Elysium

Elysium

I really know nothing about this movie short of the 1 image that keeps making the rounds of Matt Damon and his crazy rifle and shaved head. But its from the creator of District 9 and I absolutely loved that movie so I'm definitely all in for this one!

1. Man of Steel

Man of Steel

Can Mr. Nolan do the same for Superman as he did with Batman? Will this movie propel us towards a ‘Justice League’ movie? Does Zach Snyder have it in him? All I have to say is “I Effin’ Hope SO!!!”

1. Zero Dark Thirty

Zero Dark Thirty

I'm a sucker for anything military related, with Black Hawk Down being one of my top 5 movies I can watch over and over. Plus, while I didn't absolutely love Hurt Locker, Point Break is another one of my all time favorites.
